bootstrap: replace burger menu with tab at smallest media screen size?

I'm looking for example code how to modify Bootstrap's example navbar menu.

The goal when reducing the screen size to the smallest media size, is to avoid showing the burger bar, but instead show a tab or text menu bar. Some example images are shown below from this article. These are for mobile devices. The same website on a larger display would look as the default navbar shows (also without burger bar).

The solution should work for all browsers Bootstrap works with (I don't want to further limit the browser support).
